Most issues with BaseZap are related to wallet configuration or network settings. This guide covers the most common problems and how to fix them.
The official BaseZap URL is basefarcaster.vercel.app. Always verify you are on the correct site before connecting your wallet or approving any transaction. Do not interact with unofficial versions.
If your wallet fails to connect, work through these steps:
  1. Check your network. Your wallet must be set to Base mainnet (Chain ID: 8453). In MetaMask or Rainbow, open the network selector and switch to Base. If Base does not appear, add it manually using Chain ID 8453.
  2. Refresh the page. After switching networks, reload basefarcaster.vercel.app and try connecting again.
  3. Use a supported wallet. BaseZap supports Base Smart Wallet, MetaMask, Rainbow, and the Farcaster built-in wallet. Other wallets are not guaranteed to work.
  4. Clear your browser cache. If the problem persists, clear your cache or try a different browser.
A failed transaction is usually caused by one of two things:
  • Insufficient USDC balance. Make sure your wallet holds enough USDC on Base to cover the tip amount plus the 2% platform fee.
  • Insufficient ETH for gas. Base transactions require a small amount of ETH for gas. Even though gas costs less than $0.01, your wallet must have a non-zero ETH balance on Base.
Check both balances, top them up if needed, and then retry the transaction.
Every transaction on Base requires a small amount of ETH to pay for gas. The cost is less than $0.01, but your wallet must hold at least a minimal ETH balance on Base mainnet.You have two options to get ETH on Base:
  • Bridge from Ethereum mainnet. Use the official Base Bridge at bridge.base.org to move ETH from Ethereum to Base. Bridging typically takes a few minutes.
  • Buy ETH directly on Base. Purchase ETH on Base directly through Coinbase and withdraw it to your wallet — make sure to select Base as the withdrawal network.
Once your ETH arrives, retry your tip transaction.
If a recipient reports a missing tip, follow these steps:
  1. Find the transaction hash. Your wallet should show the transaction in its activity or history screen. Copy the transaction hash.
  2. Check Basescan. Go to basescan.org, paste the transaction hash, and confirm the status shows Success.
  3. Confirm the recipient address. Verify that the destination address on Basescan matches the recipient’s wallet address.
If the transaction status is Success, the funds are already in the recipient’s wallet. USDC appears automatically — the recipient does not need to claim anything. If they still cannot see the balance, ask them to confirm their wallet is connected to Base mainnet (Chain ID: 8453).
Transactions on Base are irreversible. Once a transaction is confirmed on-chain, it cannot be reversed, cancelled, or recalled by BaseZap or anyone else.To avoid this in the future:
  • Double-check the Farcaster username before confirming.
  • If tipping via a cast link, verify the cast belongs to the intended recipient.
  • Review the recipient details on the confirmation screen in your wallet before approving.
BaseZap cannot reverse, cancel, or recover funds sent to the wrong address. Always verify the recipient before confirming the transaction.
This almost always means your wallet is connected to the wrong network. USDC on Ethereum mainnet and USDC on Base mainnet are separate assets — your Ethereum USDC balance is not visible or spendable on Base.To fix this:
  1. Open your wallet and switch to Base mainnet (Chain ID: 8453).
  2. Refresh the BaseZap app at basefarcaster.vercel.app.
  3. Your USDC on Base should now appear.
If you only hold USDC on Ethereum mainnet, you need to bridge it to Base first. Use the official Base Bridge at bridge.base.org.
VVV staking issues are typically caused by one of the following:
  • No VVV tokens on Base mainnet. Confirm your wallet holds VVV tokens on Base, not on another network.
  • Insufficient ETH for gas. The staking contract requires ETH on Base for gas fees. Top up your ETH balance if needed.
  • Approval step not completed. Before you can stake, you must approve the staking contract to spend your VVV tokens. This approval is a separate transaction. Wait for the approval transaction to confirm before attempting to stake.
  • Approval transaction failed. If the approval failed, retry it. If it continues to fail, try increasing the gas limit in your wallet settings before submitting.
VVV staking is a separate, optional feature powered by Venice AI. It is not connected to USDC tipping. You can access it at basefarcaster.vercel.app/stake.
There are several ways to get USDC on Base mainnet:
  • Buy directly on Coinbase. Purchase USDC on Coinbase and withdraw directly to Base. When withdrawing, select Base as the destination network.
  • Bridge from Ethereum. If you already hold USDC on Ethereum mainnet, bridge it to Base using the official Base Bridge at bridge.base.org.
  • Withdraw from a supported exchange. Many major exchanges support direct withdrawals to the Base network. Check your exchange’s withdrawal options and select Base (Chain ID: 8453) as the destination network.
Once USDC arrives in your wallet on Base, you are ready to tip.
